What are the major points my spouse and I need to agree upon?

Essentially, you and your spouse need to agree on answers regarding the following questions:

  • How are you going to divide the assets?

  • How are you going to divide the debts?

  • How will you co-parent the children? Many states have a standard custody or possession order courts like to see.

  • What is the right amount of child or spousal support? As explained below, many states also have a formula that determines the right amount of support payments.
